Itinerary
Upon arrival at Leh Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport, you will be greeted by our representative and transferred to your hotel for check-in. Leh, situated at an altitude of 11,500 feet, requires acclimatization to prevent altitude sickness. You will spend the day relaxing and adjusting to the high altitude. You can explore Leh Market in the evening or take a short stroll around the town to get a feel for the area. Overnight stay in Leh.
After a leisurely breakfast, embark on a full-day local sightseeing tour around Leh. Visit Shey Palace, once the royal residence of Ladakh’s kings, and Thiksey Monastery, one of the most important monasteries in the region, resembling the Potala Palace in Lhasa. Next, head to Hemis Monastery, one of Ladakh’s largest and wealthiest monasteries, and Leh Palace, offering panoramic views of the surrounding areas. In the evening, relax at Leh Market or enjoy a traditional Ladakhi meal. Overnight stay in Leh.
Today, after breakfast, we head towards Nubra Valley. You will cross Khardung La Pass (18,380 ft), one of the highest motorable passes in the world, with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. On arrival in Nubra Valley, check into your camp or guesthouse. You will visit Diskit Monastery and enjoy a camel safari through the Hunder Sand Dunes to experience the famous double-humped Bactrian camels. Overnight stay in Nubra Valley.
Today, you’ll embark on a journey from Nubra Valley to Pangong Lake, one of Ladakh’s most famous attractions. You will drive through scenic landscapes, passing through the Shyok River route. Upon arrival, enjoy the beautiful view of the lake, with its changing shades of blue, surrounded by snow-capped mountains. Take time to relax by the lake and capture some memorable photographs. Overnight stay in a lakeside camp.
After a peaceful sunrise at Pangong Lake, depart for Leh. You will drive back through Chang La Pass (17,590 ft), stopping along the way at picturesque viewpoints. Upon reaching Leh, you will have the evening free to rest or explore the local market. Overnight stay in Leh.
After breakfast, drive towards the beautiful Tsomoriri Lake, located in the Changthang Plateau at 15,000 ft. The lake is known for its serene beauty and is a haven for birdwatchers, especially during migration season. You will also get a chance to visit Korzok Monastery, situated near the lake. Spend the night in a camp or guesthouse near the lake, surrounded by stunning landscapes.
Today, drive towards Tsokar Lake, located in the Changthang region. The journey takes you through remote villages and high-altitude areas. Tsokar Lake is smaller than Pangong and Tsomoriri, but its landscape is equally captivating. It's also home to migratory birds and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. Overnight stay in a camp or guesthouse near Tsokar Lake.
On Day 8, you will head back towards Leh, taking the scenic Leh-Manali Highway. This journey offers spectacular views of the high-altitude desert landscapes, mountains, and villages. En route, stop at Tanglang La, the second-highest motorable pass in the world, at 17,480 ft. After reaching Leh in the evening, check into your hotel. Overnight stay in Leh.
After several days of exploration, enjoy a day of leisure in Leh. You can opt for additional sightseeing, shopping at Leh Market, or simply relax. You may also visit Ladakh's local handicraft stores to purchase souvenirs like carpets, jewelry, and Tibetan-style art. For those looking for adventure, you can take a short trek or visit other nearby monasteries or lakes. Overnight stay in Leh.
